New in town
Two months ago I moved across the country. My fiance and I moved out of New York City, away from the loveliest of neighborhoods in Brooklyn, to the Mile High City: Denver, CO.
It's something I never would have guessed I'd do, despite all the times that subways, tourists, long lines, heavy traffic, and bad apartment rentals got me down. I never thought I'd leave New York, the city where I'd lived during and after college. A city I adore. For that matter, I never thought I'd leave behind a career and a company where I'd been working since before I graduated college. (Okay, in all honesty I did think it, nay dream of it, but I still thought it would be a long time before it came to pass.)
But for all my misgivings, and there were plenty, I'm here in Denver, in a neighborhood that is nearly as endearing as the one I left, and to my near-constant surprise I like it. I may even love it. And I don't miss New York much...or at all. (This, perhaps even more than moving itself, has defied my expectations.)
So here I am. New town, new house, new car (a car!), new freelance job, new life. And to go with it, a new blog. Hello.
